"Our mission at SPLASH is to promote water safety and prevent drowning incidents by educating the public about pool safety measures, focusing on CPR training and rescue techniques. In addition, we will continuously strive to provide resources for pool owners to promote and install safety equipment and advocate for stronger pool safety regulations."
This summer, follow our community organization on Instagram @Splash.WaterSafety to learn more about life-saving tips, training, and technology to prevent drowning or near-drowning incidents around your pool. Let’s all get on board to have a safe and fun-filled Summer 2023 and get S.P.L.A.S.H.’ed!
“What started as a nightmare that could've been a tragedy turned into a miracle… we can’t always expect miracles, so the organization S.P.L.A.S.H. was conceived to spread awareness and education of pool safety to all our community members so that no one ever has to suffer from this type of traumatic experience.”
-Steven Shalom
S.P.L.A.S.H. recommends implementing 5 layers of protection to prevent accidental pool drownings in your home and help save a life:

-
Barriers and Alarms- Use 4-sided fencing with self-closing, self-latching gates, pool safety covers, and alarm systems that meet governing regulations to prevent access. This is your first layer of defense!
-
Supervision- There should be close, constant, and capable adult supervision from a lifeguard or designated pool watcher when children are in or around water.
-
Pool Safety Equipment- Personal flotation devices, life jackets, swimmies, buoys, throw ropes, a shepherd’s hook, rescue tubes, pool safety signs, and a stocked first aid kit should all be easily accessible.
-
Water Competency- Provide children and adults with basic water safety skills to reduce the risk of drowning or aquatic-related injuries. Swim lessons save lives.
-
Emergency Preparation- Prepare for an aquatic emergency with CPR training and basic water rescue skills. Always have a working phone available to call Hatzalah (732-531-9988) if necessary. A Hatzalah sign with your home address should be near the pool. Click here to get your own Hatzalah Sign.
